Hippocrates and modern medicinal science

I was reading through he home health guide, when I ran into a quote by Hippocrates. Hippocrates was known as "the father of medicine". The man lived some 400 years prior to Christ, yet despite the assumption of people being a bit more barbarous then others, i would have to argue that this man was quite sound in mind. "time is short, the art is long, the occasion instant, decision difficult."
in 1965 this quote was stripped from Hippocrates's statements. and now in 2009 i will make sure it's still in use. Hippocrates said it best. We don't live very long even in comparison to other animals on this planet. A bird may live 5 or more times as long as a person. Our bodies are simplistic yet create complicated problems. The art , he is speaking of is medicine. The occasion is the instantaneous impact that a disease and or altercation in one's conditional state will have on their life. It's a sad life we live. we are born and constantly dying afterwards. Our body's grow up to a point and degrade afterwards from that point on. Yet we must live our lives with a smile, knowing that whether it is a psychological condition, or a medical malady , we have somebody who has devoted a good portion of the time they can spend enjoying life to the fullest, just to help others. The choices these individuals have on our lives are profound and can change us for the better or the worse. We lay our lives in our doctor's hands each time we pay them a visit, and times are just getting harder. Why did i write this? Because honestly when things get rough, it's best to make someone laugh, make someone smile, or lead your life in good cheer. Thus, do me a favor... be kind to those around you, the people that really matter in your lives because we never know what's really on their minds or in their bodies. In short... give them a hug for me.
